About IiP Scotland

Performance Metrics Pilot - summary

Following the successful implementation of New Choices, IIPS are have recently launched a pilot to enable organisations to design set of organisational and people measures as part of their IIP assessment.

The importance of this activity is paramount to the future of IIP. For organisations, identifying and measuring organisational performance against relevant measures is important to allow them to understand how it is progressing towards its goals. Establishing this good practice as part of its Investors in People (IIP) assessment is a natural progression to the way in which we have been delivering IIP since the summer of 2008 (New Choices). Performance measures will aid an organisation’s understanding of how using IIP principles is helping achieve its objectives, but more importantly they will provide an essential tool to agree what success looks like and effectively monitor organisational progress.

On a macro level, it is important as it will allow us to analysis and understand the impact that IIP can have on organisations. Generic data will be collated to see how IIP organisations progress when using the IIP framework and as such will complement our future positioning of IIP as an effective business improvement tool.

Whilst we have identified a number of perceived ‘common’ measures, participating organisations will have the choice to design their own, ensuring that any measures agreed are reflective of their unique operating structure and environment.

The pilot is due to be formally reviewed in March 2011. For more information, please contact Alex Elmywood or Alan Gebbie at Investors in People Scotland.
